Programme of Research Projects to be Undertaken in 2021-22

  1. Transformational Leadership for Global Governance
    1. MSS has been collaborating with the World Academy of Art & Science (WAAS) and the World University Consortium (WUC) to examine the characteristics of highly successful leaders in politics, business, social entrepreneurship and other fields. MSS will continue research on development of a transdisciplinary course on leadership. MSS staff will research on the process of entrepreneurship and business success to identify the social, psychological, technological and organization factors responsible for their success.
    2. The Laszlo Institute of New Paradigm Research has invited MSS staff to participate in the Symposium on the New Paradigm in Politics on July 23-25, 2021. The symposium aims to transform politics so as to usher in a new global paradigm for greater human wellbeing.
    3. Two articles by MSS staff on this theme have been accepted for publication in the upcoming issue of Cadmus Journal in the May 2021 issue.
  2. Human Security
    1. MSS is in discussion with WAAS and the United Nations Human Security Unit regarding a proposal for a global campaign to promote the UN concept of Human Security. The UN Trust Fund for Human Security has already given preliminary approval for the project. It is anticipated that the long preparatory process will result in final approval before the end of 2021-22.
  3. COVID-19
    1. MSS has been studying the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue research on the topic.
    2. WAAS is planning to organize an e conference on “Perspectives on Post Pandemic” on May 12-14, 2021 to examine different perspectives on social, economic, political, educational and environmental matters, taking into account the plurality of realities in Latin America. This event will discuss ways for a humanitarian recovery that ensures environmental sustainability. This event will include visions and perspectives of Latin American WAAS members, and invited speakers from the rest of the world. MSS Staff have been invited to present at the event.
    3. The COVID-19 pandemic and accelerated onset of Climate Change confirm that the need for coordinated global action has never been greater or more urgent. This global moment is without precedent. For the first time in history the understanding and aspirations of humanity as a whole are converging to arrive at a common awareness and set of objectives. The human security of all is at stake. The challenge presented is to transform the long, slow trial and error process of social evolution into a conscious process of global social transformation. This is the issue to be examined at the 3rd International Scientific Forum on Global Social Transformations co-organized by UNESCO, Moscow State University, WAAS and Club of Rome on June 15, 2021. MSS Staff have been invited to speak at the event.
  4. WAAS Talks and Mentors Series
    1. The World Academy of Art and Science will start hosting s a series of webinars that examine issues of central importance to global society. This series, titled WAAS Talks, is set to start with the theme of Democratising Global Governance in April 2021. Another on Science has been scheduled for mid-2021. MSS staff will present at the events and host the webinars.
    2. The Academy is also planning to host a series of webinars titled WAAS Mentors to facilitate intergenerational dialogue. The dynamic collaboration with other organizations aims to advance the Academy’s programs and projects. The first on “Mind, thinking and Creativity” to be conducted by MSS has been scheduled for April 2021.
  5. New Economic Theory
    1. The Future Capital initiative is focused on restoring the right relationship between consciousness and capital, as creative force and constructive resource. The project was initiated in collaboration with the World Academy of Art and Science, United Nations Office for Partnerships and UNCTAD. MSS staff are represented on the organising committee.
    2. A webinar in the WAAS Mentors series on the Tao of Finance has been scheduled for May 2021. MSS staff will participate in the events and host the webinars.
    3. MSS is also supporting a project to redirect international investments to support achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The project is being directed by the Force for Good (UK). MSS is represented on the project committee advising the project.
    4. MSS has been invited to contribute a chapter on Dr. Rajendra Pachauri and his participation in the activities of WAAS for a book to be published by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
  6. Psychological History of the World
    1. This major research project will continue tracing the underlying movement of ideas, values, aspirations and social forces that propelled various movements and events in history. Events will be looked into with a telescopic view of the advance of human civilization and culture from its origins in the distant past to the emergence of city-states, regional kingdoms, empires, nations and the global community. The project is expected to provide insights into the progressive evolution of human consciousness expressing through different stages of transition from physicality to mentality.
  7. Accelerating India’s Economic Development
    1. MSS will continue to collaborate with Global Institute of Integral Management Studies to develop an action plan for accelerating India’s economic development. The project, titled “Double It,” will focus on mostly Indian companies that doubled their profits over the last few years. MSS staff will identify such companies, and do a comprehensive research study of their background and financial accomplishment. The plan is to launch the program in collaboration with the Federated Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry in late 2021.
  8. Future of Education in the 21st Century
    1. MSS is collaborating with WUC on a research project to evolve a new model for higher education that more effectively prepares youth for participation in the highly competitive work environment and increasingly complex social environment of the 21st
    2. The research involves understanding current higher educational trends, how the pandemic has affected education globally and what can be done about it, and how to raise the qualitative aspect of higher education.
  9. Business Management
    1. MSS will continue collaborating with the Global Institute for Integral Management Studies, Kochi, Kerala to develop a new curriculum for teaching principles of business management. MSS staff will continue to conduct training programs for GIIMS faculty and Sainath Technologies.
  10. Human Character, Life and Social Evolution in Literature
    1. The Society will continue its research on social evolution and human character in Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice and Anthony Trollope’s novels.
  11. Applied Educational Research
    1. The Society will continue research and training on new methods, techniques and materials for early childhood and school education and test them at Primrose School.
    2. Special emphasis is being placed on improving technology, pedagogy and teacher skills for on-line education.

MSS staff have been working on making the most of online learning at the time of online learning. Teachers have been trained and guided by MSS staff. MSS will continue to guide them and monitor progress on online learning.
